Environmental Engineering is a rapidly growing, multi-disciplinary branch of engineering, concerned with devising, implementing and managing solutions to protect and restore the environment, within an overall framework of sustainable development.

Members and other environmental and sustainability professionals may be interested in The Next Wave: Sustainability Advantage (PDF flyer, 178 KB), a series of seminars and workshops presented by Dr Bob Willard. Dr Willard is an internationally renowned expert on the business value of sustainability. He will be presenting in Cairns, Sydney and Melbourne on 3-5 April 2006.

The Environmental Engineering Society (EES) is a society of Engineers Australia (trading name for the Institution of Engineers Australia). It has a long history, and has a rapidly growing membership of over 1000 members across Australia.

EES is a 'learned' body which exists to promote information transfer regarding environmental issues of relevance to the environmental engineering profession and other environmental practitioners. Environmental Engineers are concerned with all aspects of the natural and constructed environment and EES provides opportunities for members to network within their profession, as well as maintaining programs for continual professional education. The

EES is also affiliated with the College of Environmental Engineers, which amongst other things, partcipates in the evaluation and accreditation of environmental engineering courses.

Society Chapters conduct regular seminars on a range of environmental issues and publishes a quarterly National Journal, 'The Environmental Engineer'.

The EES website site contains a Student Forum for undergraduate environmental practitioners which provides information relating to the current Environmental Industy.

The EES has a
National Board that coordinates the activities of the State Chapters. Local chapters have their own state committees which arrange local events and activities.
